Mrs. Alexia Fugh

Mrs. Alexia FughAlexia Butler Fugh was born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised by her Korean Grandfather until she was adopted by her PARENTS, Hosea and Julia Butler at the age of 3 1/2 and raised in Murfreesboro, TN.

She attended elementary schools in Rutherford County and graduated from Murfreesboro Central High School where she was active in numerous organizations and activities – most notably the Debate Team, Drama Team (member of the International Thespian Society), and a member of the Girl’s Track Team.

She is a graduate of the Kentucky State University School of Nursing and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University where she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Arts with concentrations in English and Science.

Mrs. Fugh has a great love of caring for people and has been a Licensed Registered Nurse for over 29 years. Her clinical nursing specialties are: Surgical Trauma ICU and Oncology/Chemotherapy. For the past 10 years Mrs. Fugh has worked as a Senior Clinical Research Associate (Sr. CRA) in the pharmaceutical research industry Most recently, Mrs. Fugh became an independent contract Sr. CRA and is now working on several Eli Lilly oncology research studies. Professionally, she is a member of the American Nurses Association, the National Black Nurses Association, the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants.

While growing up, Mrs. Fugh attended and was a member of Key United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, TN, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship. She became a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church when she married her husband, the Reverend Clement W. Fugh. She has taken pride in participating in the life of the churches where her husband has been assigned because she believes first and foremost that ministry is about being a servant to God’s people and not about being served. She has been an active member of the Women’s Missionary Society where she served as local missionary president and as Area Chairperson. She has been Chairperson of Women’s Day, contributor to the Children’s Message, and has been guest speaker at various churches. Mrs. Fugh took great pride in being the First Lady and hostess of Greater Bethel AME Church during the dedication celebrations and festivities surrounding the opening of the newly built Greater Bethel AME Church in October 1994.

Mrs. Fugh has been happily married to her life partner, the Reverend Dr. Clement W. Fugh, General Secretary and Chief Information Officer of the AME Church, for over 34 years. They are the proud parents of two beautiful and talented adult children: Marcia Dionne Fugh-Joseph and Joseph Edward Fugh. Three years ago the Fughs were honored to welcome son-in-law, Paul Stephen Joseph into their family, and in September they were thrilled by the arrival of their first grandchild, Taylor Joi Joseph. They also have one grand-puppy, Rocky.

Mrs. Fugh is always amazed at the grace of God, when she thinks over her life and realizes how God has orchestrated her life events. God has kept her, blessed her and protected her. She feels her life itself, is a testimony of an AWESOME God.
